About me

My quest for Fashion, travel and more!!

I remember rather distinctly as a child watching a Ritu Beri interview on the television talking about her successful career in fashion and stint at the Paris Fashion Show. I was amazed and equally surprised at the fact how she was the only designer from India to be recognized globally at that time. There was no internet those days, i could only see a glimpse of her creations in magazines and on the television, that too not very often. That's the time i decided, i want to be a part of this industry. I recall going out shopping with my mom and how i used to throw tantrums on which frock to pick up from a shop. My mom had creative instincts too and she found out a tailor in a small area called Aminabad in Lucknow, he had a small room with stacks of fabrics. I used to go with my mom every month and browse through the new fabrics he got, select them, mix n  match them and hand over to him the cuttings of different styles i collected from newspapers, magazines etc. And off course i was dominating and aggressive which i still am, i used to scold the tailor if he did not get the design right, though i was just a 9 or 10 year old kid :). This is probably 1990 i am talking about. My mother helped me design too, as she once aspired to be a fashion designer but coming from a strict rajput army background at that time, was not allowed to pursue her dreams.
I was pleasantly surprised  when  i shared my ambitions of becoming a fashion designer  with my parents. My dad totally supported me and told me he would enroll me in a course and help me prepare and my mother was equally excited.
No i am not really a Ritu Beri fan  but i would definitely say she inspired me in a way that you can do whatever you want if you dream and work for it.
I completed my Fashion course and entered into the big bad world of corporate. I worked with some big names in the retail fashion sector and transitioned from becoming a designer to a fashion retail buyer at a very early stage of my career.
Being in the kind of profession i was, there was extensive travel and i realized i am a gypsy soul. While many people cribbed about frequent travel, i used to get a kick out of it. From then on, i have been travelling across the world as much as i can, absorbing various cultures, collecting fashionable unique and vintage stuff from all the corners, building my own unique closet , meeting new people, learning new languages( i am not at all a linguistic person though but i try) and this quest and quench in me increases with each travel or work of mine.

I have been to international only girl trips, have traveled to remote areas with a group of strangers who are now my friends and also traveled solo to a few countries and cities.

Currently based in London, here i explore my gypsy soul diaries and try to give you a sneak peek of my personal style and what new in trend inspired from old, retro and vintage.
